With such a large influx of new clientele, we have had requests for some of our previously offered roller workshops. So in August, we will be offering a few ROLL & RELEASE workshops. The first workshop will be an introduction to the PROPER use of the roller and will cover some general uses for the entire body. In the second workshop, we will focus on the LOWER BODY, zeroing in on problem areas such as the deep hip and glute musculature, tight hamstrings and quadriceps, release in the IT band, and issues with the shins and calves.
PLEASE NOTE: If you have NOT attended a Roll & Release workshop with us before, you MUST attend the first workshop beginning at 10:45am before attending any other roller workshops. We do not suggest taking both workshops in one day, as it can have adverse effects on the connective tissues. We will offer more workshops later this year.
Saturday August 16th
Introduction to Roll & Release – 10:45am-1:00pm
Roll & Release – LOWER BODY – 1:15-3:30pm

BEATING BELLY FAT
Consider these things as you assess your lifestyle and nutrition patterns:
1. Belly fat comes from a mix of caloric intake and hormones (primarily cortisol and insulin).
2. Eating less and exercising more is NOT the answer!
3. You can have a dramatic affect on your belly fat with cortisol and stress management.
Ways to combat
1. Exercise regularly.
2. Reduce stress. When your stress levels are elevated, so is your cortisol.
3. Minimize combinations of fat + starch + sugar.
4. Eat more protein and vegetables (high fiber). These food types will minimize insulin production, thereby reducing the tendency for insulin and cortisol to team up and increase belly fat.
5. Get enough sleep. This lowers cortisol as well.
6. Manage your carbohydrate intake. Eat nutrient dense carbs (high fiber/high complex carb content) vs. empty carbs (low fiber/high simple sugar content). This will also minimize cortisol increases.

On November 17 Mindful Movements will launch an exciting new program called BarreAmped.
BarreAmped is an intensive body shaping experience designed to produce reliable results, no matter the client. The method is influenced by classical and modern dance (though it is not a dance class) and utilizes a barre to achieve optimal positioning. Insights from Pilates, yoga, and orthopedic stretching also balance the method’s unique approach.
The precision-oriented technique focuses mainly on small, isolated movements within deeply held and challenging postures. BarreAmped is proven to increase metabolism, burn fat, and lengthen tight muscles. With commitment to the technique, you get recognizable results exactly where you want them.
Created by international fitness celebrity and former Lotte Berk Method instructor Suzanne Bowen, BarreAmped is the result of more than 10 years of physiological study and client observations by one of America’s top fitness talents. Precise form is essential to achieving optimal results in BarreAmped; thus, BarreAmped instructors are highly trained to correct and refine your positioning during each workout.
Mindful Movements Pilates studio has partnered with Spiece Fitness to offer Group Centergy. Group Centergy is a 60 minute yoga/pilates program choreographed to music. The program is developed by Body Training Systems (BTS) in Atlanta, Georgia. The development team consists of fitness experts from around the country who work to develop the program to be safe, effective and fun. Each quarterly program must be approved by program test teams and the BTS safety advisory board. Each release is also tested in various markets before its official release.
We are very proud of our relationship to Spiece Fitness and the ability to bring this high quality program to our studio. Classes are offered three times a week and are limited to 8 participants in each class. See the class signup section of our website to sign up for a class.
