Five benefits of BarreAmped® exercises with Mindful Movements
Barre exercise is everywhere and growing in popularity every year. Barre exercise offers a multitude of benefits:
- Better alignment of your body strengthens your abdominals, hips, and gluteals.
- The isometric nature and small movements of most exercises allow for a low impact strength program that is safe for joints and most populations.
- The stretches elongate muscles and give a “toned and fit” look to your body in a short period of time.
- When your core is stronger, it allows for a more stable pelvis, which helps all the joints in your body and a better posture.
- A 2020 study investigated postural angles on participants taking barre 50 minutes, two times a week found the barre significantly improved head, shoulder, and pelvic posture. ((1))
Why BarreAMPED®
There are many programs on the market today that offer barre exercise. Some are stand-alone studios, some are integrated into existing fitness programs, and others are “fused” with other movement practices.
Following a proven method such as BarreAMPED® is an essential part of a consistent mindful movement practice. A well balanced, form-focused program without all the complicated choreography and flashing lights help participants connect mind and body. Because we teach a method, our classes are consistent from instructor to instructor, making it easy to attend any class on the schedule. The moves help you internalize movement, which we feel is one of the best gifts you can give to your body.
BarreAmped® is an intensive body shaping experience designed to produce reliable results, no matter the client. The method is influenced by classical and modern dance (though it is not a dance class) and utilizes a barre to achieve optimal positioning. Insights from Pilates combined with active and orthopedic stretching also balance the method’s unique approach. The precision-oriented technique focuses mainly on small, isolated movements within deeply held and challenging postures. BarreAmped® is proven to increase metabolism, burn fat, and lengthen tight muscles. With a commitment to the technique, you get recognizable results exactly where you want them. (2)
BarreAMPED® is rooted in the techniques of the original barre method developed by Lotte Berk in the 1930s (3). With the modern updates of using neutral spine (see our blog on the neutral spine) and plenty of modifications offered in the movements, we feel this program was the best fit for our studio. We are the only licensed BarreAMPED® partner studio in Indiana.
BarreAmped® offers a progressive way to advance in classes as your skills improve. We provide a basic Foundations class, a Mixed Format class for our intermediate to advanced students, a Fire class for our most advanced students, a Stretch class with more emphasis on longer stretches, and a Bootcamp class for our cardio junkies.
Instructor Training
Highly trained instructors are our utmost priority in selecting our teachers. Our teachers are hand-picked by our owner and sent to train by a Master BarreAMPED® instructor. They learn how and why of technique, how to modify, and how to make hands-on corrections. Upon completing a training weekend, they are placed into an in-studio apprenticeship program where they learn to teach with senior instructors and eventually graduate to teaching their classes. After they teach for several months, they are sent back for training in the more advanced techniques. You can rest assured that all of our instructors have hundreds of hours of training and practice to bring you the best program on the market.
How Mindful Movements Program Is Different
Our program is different from other barre programs because our instructors are highly trained in the proven method developed by experts in anatomy, biomechanics, and physical therapy. We feel using a method teaches discipline and commitment, which gets you recognizable results. Our program emphasizes form and hands-on corrections throughout the class. We can offer modifications to each participant to make it specific for every participant in the class. It is important to use that our class sizes are small to provide attention to each individual. Many programs offer barre with complicated choreography and loud music. While music is a motivating factor in our classes, the form is of utmost importance. The more you understand the exercise’s form, the more you connect to your body, making all daily movement better. Our instructors get to know you and your goals to make your experience unique to you and your goals.
